Join us for this year’s Second Annual Columbus Day Parade on Saturday October 11th at 11:30am.  This year’s parade route will go from the Liberty Pole downtown to Plymouth Avenue.  The parade committee is looking for members who would like to ride in the parade in one of the convertibles.

We are also looking for volunteers who can arrange transportation for those of our members who either don’t drive or who don’t want to drive downtown.  We will meet at Tony Palucci’s house in East Rochester and drive as a group downtown to the parade staging area.

SUPER COLOSSAL 50/50 RAFFLE

Sister Susan Berta, Chairperson

SOUVENIR AD BOOK

Board of Directors, Chairpersons

Each year at this time we run the Super Colossal 50/50 raffle selling tickets at $10 each.  We will draw the winner at the Christopher Columbus Dinner Dance. The winner need not be present to win.  Since we began this special raffle several years ago we have given out prize money of $440, $330 and $340.  Not bad for a $10 chance!!

Watch for more raffle tickets to be mailed to you with the invitation to the Christopher Columbus Dinner Dance.  Remember you can't win it if you’re not in it!!

We need all of our members to help us with this major fund raising project.  Ask the butcher, the hairdresser, the manicurist, the tailor, the accountant....any of the merchants you frequent!  Maybe a son, a daughter, a grandchild, a niece or nephew have a business they would like to promote to those who attend our event.

Support the ad book by placing your name on our members-only page.  Just send your name as you wish it to appear in the book along with $10 to Susan Berta, 10 Debran Drive, Henrietta New York 14467 or contact Sister Susan at 334-6641 if you need an ad form or have any questions.

Please keep the lodge in mind when you do your Christmas shopping this year.  All the Italian Christmas ornaments and other items that we had for sale at the Italian Festivals this summer are now available year-round in our lodge website’s online gift shop.

We also have golf shirts, sweatshirts and baseball caps available with the lodge name embroidered on them.  All are available in black or white and the golf shirts are also available in purple, which is the official color of OSIA.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery and order early for Christmas!

The lodge website is getting hits from all over the world!  In the past month we have had people looking at it from Italy, Russia, Brazil and over a dozen US states.  If you have not looked at it recently, please check it out and leave us a note in the guestbook so we know you’ve stopped by.

If you have pictures taken at any lodge events and can email them to us to use online, please send them to information@sonsofitalyrochester.com or send photos to President Joe and we will scan them for the site.

This year’s festival was a great success for the lodge.  With lots of help from our membership we had two exciting weekends.  Between the festival in Geneva and the festival here in Rochester, we raised almost $600 for the lodge scholarship fund.

We’ve already decided that we’d like to do next year’s festival at the IACC in Rochester and will be looking for volunteers again.  Please plan to join us and help to raise money for a very worthy cause.

WELCOME BACK

The lodge members wish to welcome Brother Henry DiNardo back to Rochester as he permanently moves back from Florida.  Brother Henry will make his residence at the Legacy at Willow Pond.  Give him a call to say hello.  Brother Henry we look forward to seeing you at our meetings and upcoming events!!

COMMUNITY NEWS

TURKEY RAFFLE DINNER

Sister Jen Gugino, Chairperson

Italian Carousel with Joe Capogreco, the 40 year-old radio program heard every Sunday on WROC 950 AM is taking a hiatus this Fall to make way for NFL Buffalo Bills 2008 pre-game programming.

On the weeks during the NFL season when the Buffalo Bills are not playing on Sunday (9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 11/16, 12/7, & 12/21), they will be on the air LIVE at their new time 8:00 am until 10:00 am. Archives of previous programs will still be available online at www.italiancarousel.net.

Some of our members have noted that even in Italy they are not hearing traditional Italian music and Italian visitors to Rochester are very impressed with Carosello Italiano so tune in Sunday mornings for a taste of Italy in Rochester.

We proudly announce that we are bringing back the "Papa Tony" Turkey raffle.  This fundraiser was not held last year, but by "popular demand" we are ready to party.  We ask that you and your guests join us Wednesday November 12th at the St. Cecelia Church Community Center.

Starting at 5pm  for social hour, roast beef/chicken dinner served at 6pm.  There will be a Turkey Raffle, and 50/50 also will be a part of the evening fun.  We need to raise monies for the club, and hopefully we can put together at least 50 people to enjoy this evening.  Pat Gambacurto, will perform an accordion/singing and fun show for us at 7pm.   I know you will enjoy her tremendously.
