Edward Albert Maruggi is a second generation Italian American with undergraduate and graduate degrees from the State University of New York at Oswego and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Minnesota. He is a Professor Emeritus from Rochester Institute of Technology where he served various faculty and administrative roles for Engineering Technology programs for hearing impaired students. In addition to his most recent publications about Italian Americans, he has written six college level textbooks in his field and is a former electromechanical engineer in the aerospace industry. He formed Winston Publishing in 1996. A Teacher of the Handicapped Fellowship by the Rotary Foundation was awarded him in 1980/81 to study and conduct research in Italy. He is listed in "Who¹s Who Among Italian Americans" by the National Italian American Foundation, 1999 edition. Dr. Maruggi was a contributor to The Italian American Experience: An Encyclopedia by LaGumina, Cavaioli, Primeggia, and Varacalli, Garland Publishing, 2000 and has been on the Executive Council of the American Italian Historical Association since 1998. He holds memberships in the Sons of Italy, Vincent Lombardi Lodge #2270 Chapter and the Italian American Community Center where he is a regular contributor to the IAC Newspaper. |
