FROM THE PRESIDENT: Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As 2008 comes to an end and we head into the new year, I reflect on where we’ve been and where we will go in the coming year. In 2008 we saw our lodge president, Joe Berta elected to the State Trustee position which is both an honor for him as well as for our lodge. I was honored and privileged to be asked to fill the vacant president position for the remainder of the term. I believe that our biggest success of 2008 was the induction of fifteen new members into our lodge. I feel very confident that these new members will become involved in making our lodge the outstanding lodge that we all want it to be.
There is much enthusiasm being expressed by most of our membership, both old and new. The year ended with our Christmas dinner at the Eagle’s Club. Many thanks to the Vazzanas and to Brother Joe Dipasquale for arranging this very enjoyable event.
As you all know, the new year brings us to another Board election and I am sure we will have a strong and active board in place for the coming years. Our goals should be to build on past successes such as participation in the Festa Italiana at the IACC and the renewed enthusiasm for the Turkey Raffle Dinner. Many of our members have requested and suggested some other events and we should encourage anyone that has ideas and is willing to run with them to do so.
As most of you are aware, I am very interested in improving the programs that promote our heritage. We will continue to improve our website, encourage new members, increase our participation in community functions, be sure we continue to offer scholarships to our students and strengthen our relations with Casa Italiana as well as other educational and cultural venues. I am very open to suggestions on how to accomplish these goals. Our lodge is our members and I am very proud to be a member of this lodge and to be your president.
Possa questo stagione portare nel cuore serenita’ e gioia e il Nuovo Anno tutte le cose piu’ belle. Felice Anno Nuovo. (May this season bring serenity and joy to your heart and the New Year all things beautiful. Happy New Year.)
Fraternally Yours, Joe Rubé, president
